Where a Arizona home inspector license transfers

Arizona certifies home inspectors statewide through the State Board of Technical Registration under A.R.S. 32-122.02 and rule R4-30-247, and calls the credential a Certified Home Inspector. There is one tier and no apprentice or associate grade: an applicant either meets the full standard or is not certified, so the credential an experienced inspector moving to Arizona seeks is the only one the Board issues. The Board is not the Registrar of Contractors, which licenses contractors and has no part in inspector certification. Arizona's own examination is the National Home Inspector Examination, and the standard route also takes 84 hours of classroom training, 30 parallel inspections supervised by a long-established Arizona inspector, and a Department of Public Safety fingerprint clearance card. The Board publishes no reciprocity agreement with any named state, but Arizona's universal licensure statute, A.R.S. 32-4302, requires the Board to certify an applicant who establishes residence in Arizona and has held a home inspector credential in good standing in another state for at least a year, which is the route almost every inbound inspector will use. Every certified inspector, whichever route they take, must file financial assurance within sixty days of certification and keep it current at each annual renewal.
