Arkansas registers home inspectors statewide under the Arkansas Home Inspectors Registration Act, Ark. Code 17-52-301 et seq. The regulator is the State Board of Appraisers, Abstracters, and Home Inspectors, part of the Department of Labor and Licensing, and its home inspector work is published under the name Home Inspector Registration Board. There is one grade of registration and no trainee or associate tier, so the credential an experienced inspector moving to Arkansas seeks is the only one issued. Nobody may advertise as a home inspector or perform a fee-paid inspection in Arkansas without it, and the Board registers people rather than companies, so the registration and the insurance certificate are in your own name. Arkansas writes no examination of its own: the competency examination is the National Home Inspector Examination plus the American Society of Home Inspectors Standards of Practice and Code of Ethics examination, and the ASHI Standards of Practice and Code of Ethics are also the standards Arkansas inspectors work to.
