Moving to West Virginia as a journeyman plumber: every state's rule

The journeyman exam has 80 questions in 3 hours covering general knowledge, fixtures and fittings, storm drainage, fuel gas systems, safety, isometrics, water supply and distribution, water heaters, drain, waste and vent systems, plumbing math and plumbing tools. Its references are the 2018 International Plumbing Code, the 2018 International Fuel Gas Code and Plumbing Basics for Contractors (4th edition), and a Spanish version is available. Prov's West Virginia testing centers are in Charleston, Martinsburg, Morgantown and Wheeling; results are given at the end of the exam, and a failed exam can be retaken with no waiting period at the same $59.95 fee. The references may be highlighted or permanently tabbed but not otherwise marked. A licensed master or journeyman plumber may directly supervise no more than three plumbers-in-training. A veteran who completed a military plumber or utilities worker course and served under honorable conditions may apply to take the exam by submitting copies of the course certificate and discharge with the application (W. Va. Code 21-14-3a). The Division does not publish a minimum age or a background check requirement; under W. Va. Code 21-14-6 it may deny a license over a criminal conviction only after deciding, under W. Va. Code 21-1-6, that the conviction directly and specifically relates to the license. There is no separate law or business exam for individual plumbers; the West Virginia Business and Law exam belongs to the separate Contractor Licensing Board license.
